This is the Latest News from Google Adwords: "Important Change to URL Policy Enforcement: Starting in April, display URLs for new ads will be required to match their destination / landing page URLs, without exception. Please adjust your URLs accordingly when creating new ads." What does this mean to the guy or gal promoting clickbank products and other affiliate products? 1. It means that any ads created before the April Deadline (the exact date is not mentioned, but you can assume it to be April 1st) will be what is called grandfathered in, meaning adwords ads that already exist will continue to run as normal, but any new ads created have to have matching destination and landing pages. 2. If you have plans on running any google adwords campaigns with redirects, you better get em set-up this week, or you better think about creating landing pages for your ads. This shouldn't be a problem though, because having to create landing pages for your ads can actually be a good thing as you can optimize your pages for a better quality score and therefore get a lower cpc than if you didn't optimize. 3. Maybe it will mean less competition for some campaigns as those who don't want to optimize will be left in the dust. And those who just use redirects for their campaigns won't know how to create landing pages or will just think that they can't do this anymore. There will always be a few who just drop out. So all in all this could be a good thing for all kinds of advertisers, but personally I think it will ultimately be bad for Google itself. Steve |
